Re-cap of events in 2006 and what's in store for 2007

Happy new year everybody. It's hard getting back into the swing of things after the long Christmas break!! Oh well it has to be done... So let’s start off with a recap of events in 2006.
Last January Wayne started recording his first single “And I Love”. It was released in March 2006 and entered the Irish charts at number 20… The song remained in the Irish top 30 for 3 consecutive weeks. Wayne launched the single in the Village, Wexford Street, Dublin to a huge critical acclaim. So once again thanks to all who supported Wayne throughout.

Next on the agenda was to continue recording the rest of the album. Wayne decided to record the album in Jam Studios Kells www.jamstudios.org with producer Martin Quinn.

In July 2006 Wayne released “Green Green Grass” the second single from his forth-coming debut album. This single sold out across the country and was a huge success for an independent artist.

Wayne spent the year between recording and gigging across the country with drummer Andy Healy and bassist Glenn Rooney. It has been a very busy year for Wayne and the lads in 2006 but 2007 will be even more so with the expected future release of his debut album entitled “In my hands”.

The release date has yet to be confirmed so check back regularly for more news. Alternatively you can sign onto the mailing list to be kept up to date with everything happening in the Wayne Brennan camp.

2006 PPI Music Awards

The PPI Radio Awards are a celebration of the art and skill of radio production and programming. The Irish awards are the highlight in the radio calendar and they are in their sixth year of running. The awards will take place on the 20th October in the Burlington Hotel.

"The contribution that radio makes to all our lives is a significant one, and these awards honour the contribution of all parties both on-air and behind the scenes alike".

Wayne Brennan appeared on The Late Night Talk show with Tom O’Brannigan as a part of The Wireless Sessions. The Wireless sessions were brought to air because the Late Night Talk Team felt that Irish radio in general was not supporting unsigned Irish musical talent enough. It was the aim of the Team to go out and find independent Irish musicians with amazing talent to perform as a part of The Wireless Sessions.

Wayne’s interview has been entered into the A5 category which is entitled New Irish Music/Musical Talent program. The A5 category is one of the most important sections within the PPI awards, due to the fact that it solely concentrates on highlighting and promoting new Irish music and then developing it effectively. Last years winner was Pet Sounds on Today FM, to come close to this would be a fantastic achievement for both The Wireless Sessions and Wayne respectively.

You can listen to the Wireless session with Wayne Brennan and the other 3 entries that were shortlisted on the PPI website by Clicking Here. Red FM, Limerick’s Live 95FM and Dublin’s FM104. It was a great feat for both 98FM and Wayne to be shortlisted because there were more entries this year then ever before. Take a listen and let us know what you think. Click Here with your comments.

...Wayne releases his second single Green Green Grass ...
As a follow up to Wayne’s successful first hit single “And I Love”
“Green Green Grass” was released as a lighter summer song on the 14th of July:

"Green Green Grass"

This song took Ireland by storm over the coming months, with memorable melodies and a feel good factor that had you smiling inside and out.
Prior to the song being released to the public Green Green Grass picked up a huge amount of air play all over Ireland. With this support the song entered the air play charts in its first week as Irelands highest new entry, which in turn led to Numerous radio dates all over the country to co-inside with the tour.

Wayne Brennan, Andrew Healy and Glen Rooney played an amazing set at the warm up gig in the well renowned Bewleys Theatre on Grafton street, supported by Peter Doran. Bewleys was a sell out show and it was looking good for the rest of the tour.
The tour helped along with the radio stations nationwide support gathered speed and fast, taking the guys to every corner of Ireland within a two week period.

As songs go Green Green Grass was the summer scorcher Wayne had hoped it would be and he finished the tour to a full house as an invited guest in Gibneys.
This debut album will be one to treasure forever.
